Cookie Policy

Draft placeholder — this document is a structural stub and is not legal advice. Final wording to be reviewed before launch.
This Cookie Policy explains how Aurafy uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage), what they are used for, and the choices you have. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Local storage is a similar mechanism that keeps small values in your browser without sending them automatically to a server. Both let a site remember information between page loads — for example, that you are signed in, or that you have made a choice about analytics.
Cookies we use
Essential
Required for the site to function and cannot be switched off. These include the authentication and session cookies that keep you signed in, and security cookies that protect against cross-site request forgery. Without them, features like logging in and creating characters do not work. They are not used for analytics or advertising.
Consent preference
When you accept or decline analytics, we record that choice in your browser’s local storage under the key aurafy-analytics-consent. This is strictly necessary to remember your decision so we don’t prompt you on every visit, and is stored only on your device.
Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how Aurafy is used — for example, which pages are visited and how features are used in aggregate — so we can improve the product. When enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_<stream>) used to distinguish visitors and sessions, and sends usage data to Google. We do not use these for advertising or ad personalisation.
Analytics is off by default. We load Google Analytics in Google’s Consent Mode with all storage denied until you opt in, so no analytics cookies are set unless you accept. If you decline, Google Analytics stays in its denied state and does not store analytics cookies on your device.
Managing cookies
You can control analytics in several ways:
- The consent banner. When you first visit, you can accept or decline analytics cookies. Your choice takes effect immediately, without a page reload.
- Change your mind. Clearing this site’s data in your browser (or removing the aurafy-analytics-consent value) resets your choice, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage in their settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of Aurafy from working.
- Google opt-out. You can additionally install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent Google Analytics measurement across sites.
